Nigerians have been commended for remaining steadfast and peaceful in defense of the February 25 Presidential mandate given to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite the deluge of provocations by desperate opposition politicians that lost out in the election.
This position was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, April 1, in Abuja, by the Director,
National Youth Mobilization, South West, APC Presidential Campaign Council, APC-PCC, Engineer Kazeem Kolawole RAJI.
It would be recalled that a section of the opposition that lost out in the last Presidential election has gone to town with series of orchestrated plans and subterranean moves to stop the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President and Commander-in-chief come May 29, 2023.
At the forefront of those working against the President-Elect’s inauguration, according to the statement, are those predominantly referred to as Obidients, supporters of the defeated Presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi.
Recall that Obi's running mate at the February poll, Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed, on Channels TV, openly called for military intervention or an interim government rather than swearing-in of the winner of the Presidential Election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In the same vein, on Monday, 27th of March, supporters of Obi’s LP stormed the Defence Headquarters, in Abuja, to demand for military intervention rather than swearing-in of Asiwaju Tinubu as the President.
RAJI, who also doubles as the Director-General of Grand Alliance for Tinubu -Shettima, a Frontline organization for the promotion of good governance and rule of law in the country, in the statement however, commended Nigerians for remaining resolute and steadfast despite the barrage of unprovoked attacks to undermine the sanctity of the expressly given mandate.
RAJI, in the statement added that ''And just yesterday, a Peter Obi supporter breached the safety protocol on board Ibom Air Aircraft from Abuja to Lagos by openly agitating for support of other passengers to stop the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He was bundled out of the aircraft by the Airport security operatives after protest from other passengers".
Continuing, it added that "Same yesterday, a trending video of an Igbo community leader surfaced in Lagos".
"In the trending video, the Igbo leader was seen clearly calling for breach of peace in the state and threatening to shut down commercial activities in the state. He also threatened of IPOB invasion of the state to teach the Yoruba in Lagos a lesson''.
RAJI, in the statement wondered what the Obidients actually want stating that "the presidential election was credible, free and fair and transparent enough and their candidate, Peter Obi actually finished third and not second in the election. This, notwithstanding the fact that they have instituted a legal case challenging the declaration of the APC candidate as the duly elected winner of the electoral contest''.
''It is crystal clear to any discerning political mind that what the Obidients actually want is a complete breakdown of law and other to justify a call for extra-constitutional resolution of the crisis in the mould of interim government.
"It is on the strength of this that I commend Nigerians most especially our teeming supporters and members for remaining resolute despite all these open provocations. I am still imploring them to keep the cool and remain unperturbed despite the show of shame by this gang of sore political losers".
He however, called on security agencies to intensify "efforts aimed at containing the evil machinations of these enemies of democracy".
