The Acting Inspector General of Police, DIG Kayode Egbetokun has been congratulated on his new appointment, describing such as a "well deserved appointment" but that such opportunity should be used to rebrand the image of the police across the country.
The words were contained in a congratulatory message by a Lagos based civil society organisation, the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, who described the newly appointed Acting IGP as "a super cop who has demonstrated uncommon commitment to his job as a police officer and a patriotic Nigerian"
While congratulating Egbetokun, the CAIDOV boss commended him for his exploits in the past, where he has had course to lead, urging him to build on the experience garnered over the years to ensure he restores the image of the police with the public and the global community.
According to the group "we want to felicitate with the new Inspector General of Police,DIG Kayode Egbetokun on his well deserved appointment. As a diligent and highly cerebral police officer, who has distinguished himself in previous places, where he has operated in the past, we are confident he will make a success of the office of the IGP"
" Much as we are sure of his competence, we will not fail to remind him of the onerous tasks ahead, so we want to urge him to put machinery in motion , the process of restoring the battered image of the police, especially in Police/ Civil Society relationship , discipline and most especially corruption''
CAIDOV however promised to continuously monitor the events, especially as it relates to policing to ensure due diligence this time around, while wishing the new IGP, a successful tenure of office.
