4 arrested over cybercrime, fake $8,300 in Adamawa



Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have apprehended four suspected cyber criminals for using computer network device to defraud gullible members of the public.


The Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje Thursday disclosed the incident where he identified the suspects as "Jamilu Abubakar 21 years, Asab Vitalis 18 years, Honest Zubairu 16 years and Paul Ladan Vanasha 17 years, all residents of Shagari Phase 2, Yola South local government area, they  have been hacking into people’s bank accounts to debit using Advance techniques and skills. Investigation so far revealed that the suspects have been committing the offence since December, 2022."


Nguroje said that fake $8,300, one IPhone and three Android phones were among the items recovered from the suspects.


Nguroje revealed that "as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and other related offences the Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola, working in concert to deepen intelligence and strengthen security in the State directed that, the Suspects be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations and called on victims to such offences to be watchful and report any suspicious person(s) to the nearest police station.
