The House of Representatives Committee on Anti-Corruption has summoned the Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, over alleged billion naira fraud perpetrated under his watch in the agency.
The summon followed a petition by Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) alleging perpetration of several improprieties by Ahmad-led management team including purported N1.5bn fraud in the electricity agency recently.
In the summoned letter to the REA boss signed by the Committee's clerk, Adeji Gideon on behalf of the Chairman, Hon. Kayode Moshood Akiolu, it informed Ahmad of its commencement of investigation into allegation of fraud, criminal conspiracy and diversion of public funds levelled against him and about 15 others.
In the letter sighted by our correspondent, Ahmad is told to be at the National Assembly on Friday, 13 2023 to face the panel.
Recall that the REA MD has been in the news for the wrong reasons bordering on alleged financial improprieties of various sorts.
It includes, 37 bank accounts linked to his Biometric Verification Number with only two of those accounts purportedly declared by him in the last Asset Declaration forms he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The accounts are said to be full of discrepancies with different date of birth and names while two of them have his mother's name as account name.
