The education department of Amuwo-Odofin LGA hosted pupils from different public primary school for the children’s day celebration at the council secretariat
The Supervisor for Education, Mrs Adebimpe Doherty in her welcome address appreciated the dignitaries and children present. She stated that children’s day celebration holds a special place in her heart because children are treasure that are meant to be celebrated always. She appreciated the executive chairman for making the funfair a reality
The Executive chairman, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh, in his remarks admonished the children to shun vices like hard drugs intake, cultism, violence but rather, take their education seriously for a better future. He urged parents and guardians to support and encourage their children’s education and values. He appreciated the teachers for their tutelage and urged them to continually put the interests of the students first.
The Executive Chairman seized the opportunity to mention that all primary schools in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government have witnessed significant improvement in the quality of infrastructure and facilities.
He further stated that he would continue to make improvements in the area of promoting skill acquisition and creating an enabling and conducive environment for learning.
Some of the students participated in a spelling competition as part of the activities for the funfair and the first, second and third winners were given gifts in recognition of their perfomwnces.
The program also showcased cultural expressions through dance display amongst the students.
