Amid growing concerns over child safety from sexual violence, the Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in collaboration with the Child Protection Network (CPN), launched a sensitization program for out-of-school children on November 11, 2024, in Gbagada, Lagos. This initiative aligns with DSVA's mandate to foster a safe society for all.
In her welcome address, Executive Secretary Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, represented by Mrs. Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, DSVA's Public Affairs Officer, highlighted the urgent need to protect out-of-school children, who face heightened vulnerability to domestic and sexual violence.
She emphasized that the program seeks not only to inform but to empower, marking a proactive approach to safeguarding children. With over 200 attendees, facilitator Ms. Kafayat Salami educated the children on their rights and responsibilities, explaining various types of abuse using the acronym "PENS." She also encouraged them to memorize the toll-free helpline, 08000-333-333.
Educational materials were distributed to deepen awareness of SGBV and preventive measures
