The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) held an outreach with over 90 members of the Omo Onile community in Apapa Iganmu on November 14, 2024, as part of its zero-tolerance campaign against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating SGBV, emphasizing, “Lagos State will continue to promote zero tolerance for SGBV to ensure safer communities.”
Mr. Akinde Tosin highlighted various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, economic, and psychological violence, using real-life examples to deepen participants’ understanding. He addressed the criminality of “revenge porn,” urging victims to report through the DSVA helpline.
Mrs. Oluwakemi Bello, Head of Field Operations, outlined DSVA’s support services, including case management, psychological support, legal aid, and empowerment programs. She also introduced the Family Support Units in police stations for reporting abuse cases and encouraged persistence in seeking justice.
Participants received educational materials and souvenirs, reinforcing the importance of reporting SGBV cases via the toll-free helpline: 08000-333-333.
