LAGOS DSVA HOSTS OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROGRAM AT ARAROMI IWAYA

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) continued its outreach to out-of-school children with an event at Araromi Iwaya-Yaba themed "Every Child Matters." The initiative aims to ensure that every child in Lagos is informed about Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of DSVA, highlighted that the program equips children with knowledge and skills to protect themselves and thrive in their communities, underscoring the importance of proactive empowerment.

Mr. Damilare Adewusi, Head of Community Engagement, facilitated the session in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, making the content accessible. He educated participants on their rights, the importance of speaking up against abuse, and introduced “PENS” (Physical, Emotional, Neglect, and Sexual Abuse). He also emphasized the toll-free helpline, 08000-333-333.

Children actively participated by asking insightful questions, which were answered in relatable terms. Materials like pamphlets, wristbands, and lapel pins were distributed to reinforce the message and provide lasting resources.
