On November 16, 2024, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) conducted a sensitization program for parents, youths, and children in Ijora Community, Apapa-Iganmu. The session emphasized parental roles in fostering sexual discipline and raised awareness on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
Key Highlights:
• Parental Guidance: Mr. Akinde Olatosin, Community Engagement Officer, highlighted the importance of open communication, education, trust-building, and positive role modeling in nurturing sexual discipline among children.
• SGBV Awareness: Participants were educated on recognizing abuse, reporting mechanisms, and the dangers of revenge porn and exposing children to nudity.
• Support Services: Mr. Ayodeji Nathaniel, Clinical Psychologist, provided expert counseling and emphasized confidential support through DSVA’s toll-free line, 08000-333-333.
• Community Collaboration: LAB Foundation’s founder, Ms. Lukman Barakat, lauded DSVA's efforts and pledged collaboration to combat SGBV.
Educational materials were distributed, empowering participants to safeguard their community against SGBV.
