The United Action for Change (UAC), a prominent civic advocacy group, has announced a Day of Tributes, tagged, “Lekki in the Eyes of the People”, to honor the late AbdurRahman Lekki, one of its esteemed members and a prominent voice for change and social justice. The tribute event is set to commemorate his invaluable contributions to UAC, public service, and other worthy causes that had a profound impact on humanity.
The event which is expected to attract family, friends, colleagues , mentees, is scheduled for Sunday, 17th November, 2024. 3pm prompt, at the meeting venue of the group, 12B, Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.
As a highly respected advocate and leader, AbdurRahman Lekki was known for his dedication to advancing UAC’s vision of responsible governance and community development. His efforts inspired many within the UAC community, and his legacy of activism, integrity, and public service continues to resonate.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secreary of the group, Comrade Michael Popoola Ajayi, UAC noted, “This tribute day is a celebration of a life dedicated to advocacy, nation building, and the relentless pursuit of positive change in our society. AbdurRahman’s spirit and commitment will forever remain a guiding light for UAC, and many who impacted in a very remarkable way.”
The Day of Tributes will feature reflections, testimonials, and messages of remembrance from friends, colleagues, and fellow activists, providing a platform for all who were touched by his life to express their appreciation and share memories of his impactful work. Through this event, UAC seeks to honor his legacy and inspire future advocates to continue the vital work he championed.
In sustaining his remarkable legacy and memories, the group had also resolved to dedicate its last quarter of the year Roundtable to honour the late renowned public administrator. “ Going forward, every year, we have resolved to dedicate the last quarter of the year roundtable discussion in honour of AbdurRahman Lekki”, the Convener of the group, Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, SAN, OON, added.
