SGBV: LAGOS DSVA INDUCTS 50 BOYS INTO KINGS' CLUB




In a significant stride to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Lagos State, the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has inducted 50 boys into the prestigious Kings' Club. The induction ceremony took place recently at the residence of the British Deputy High Commissioner, Jonny Baxter.

Following a rigorous six-week training programme, the newly inducted members were educated on critical topics such as gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, anger management, legal perspectives, and the importance of grit, resilience, and tenacity.


The induction ceremony featured a welcome address by Mr. Jonny Baxter and an exposition delivery by Mr. Damilare Adewusi on the rationale behind the Kings' Club initiative.

A panel session with four boys provided invaluable insights into issues surrounding SGBV and strategies for promoting positive masculinity.

The event was rounded off with the boys pledging their allegiance to the Kings' Club and receiving certificates of training in recognition of their commitment to becoming agents of change.

This induction ceremony which marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing 16 Days of Activism drew an impressive array of distinguished guests, including the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende; Executive Secretary of Lagos State DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi; Mr. Ifiok Essang, Mr. Tunji Oyewole, Patrons from the selected schools and facilitators amidst other personalities.

The Kings' Club was curated and dedicated to fostering a sustainable social framework within educational institutions in Lagos State. The framework aims to challenge socio-cultural misconceptions and promote behavioural and attitudinal change among young boys and girls.
