2027 Presidential Election: Labour Party Endorses Peter Obi

The Labour Party (LP) has officially endorsed Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, reinforcing its confidence in his ability to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

The announcement was made by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi, in a statement released on Friday in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Arabambi disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party fully supports Obi's candidacy and believes he has the capacity to lead Nigeria toward a better future.

In addition to endorsing Obi, the Labour Party also reaffirmed its support for Governor Alex Otti of Abia State in his re-election bid and confirmed Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as its gubernatorial flag bearer for Lagos State.

Arabambi emphasized the party's unity under Obi's leadership and expressed optimism about strong voter support, particularly among Nigerian youths. “Our major focus is getting the APC out of office only through the ballot box if Nigerians so desire, and not through illegitimate means,” he stated.

He further reiterated, “Peter Obi would once again represent the LP in the 2027 presidential race, and we are determined to support Governor Otti’s re-election in Abia as well as Rhodes-Vivour’s gubernatorial bid in Lagos.”

The Labour Party remains committed to its vision of a better Nigeria, unified in its resolve to achieve this goal under Peter Obi’s leadership.

Lagos Reporters recalls that Obi was the party's presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, where he placed third behind Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
