The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday reiterated the present administration's commitment to continually invest in education infrastructure across the State for sustainable educational excellence and socio-economic development.
The Governor made this known through the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab at the commissioning of the newly built blocks of classrooms at Government Junior College Ketu, Epe, Lagos State.
He added that the government would continue to expand vocational training programs and enhance digital literacy initiatives to prepare students for the demands of a rapidly evolving world.
He stressed that the administration is setting a new benchmark in delivering on its promise of development to the people of Lagos recalling that last week, government commissioned nine schools across various local government areas, and this week, six additional schools would be commissioned statewide.
According to him, this initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to providing quality education and ensuring that every child in Lagos has access to a conducive learning environment, regardless of their location.
He said the newly commissioned facilities embodied vision for a progressive Lagos, where quality education is a right for every child across the metropolis and not a privilege.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that as the foundation of development, education remains the administration's priority and with state-of-the-art classrooms and improved infrastructure, the government is fostering a learning environment where students can excel academically and grow socially.
He said modern learning facilities such as the fully furnished classrooms, modern science laboratories, staff offices, conveniences, and a renovated administrative block would elevate the standard of education while strengthening community development adding that better infrastructure means higher student attendance, greater parental engagement, and a more supportive learning environment.
He mentioned that in the nearest future the impact of quality education will resonate throughout the community and its environs as empowered young minds will drive economic progress, spur innovation, and promote social harmony.
The Governor said the state does not only celebrate the expansion of the institution today but also the collective dedication to fostering an environment where the children can flourish.
He added that the strategic focus underscores the commitment to preparing the next generation for the challenges of a rapidly changing world and ensuring they are equipped to drive economic growth, social progress as well as sustainable development in Lagos.
"To our dear students, we encourage you to embrace learning with enthusiasm and determination; Your dreams are achievable, and with dedication and effort, you can attain greatness; This facility has been designed to offer you an optimal environment for success, and we believe you will take full advantage of the opportunities it provides" he said.
He expressed appreciation to the teachers and school administrators for their dedication and passion for grooming the next generation of leaders and assured them that the Government will continue to support as well as continually invest in their professional growth to further enhance the quality of education in the state.
"I sincerely commend the Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS) for their remarkable efforts in transforming our educational infrastructure; Their dedication and hard work have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition" he said.
He added that the new learning facilities stands as a testament to their vision and commitment to improving learning environment and expressed gratitude for their invaluable contributions to Lagos State as well as fostering a brighter future for the children.
He charged every stakeholder, community leaders and parents to take keen interest in the school by giving it their full support and ensuring that it continues to positively impact lives for generations to come so that everyone can continue to build a Lagos where knowledge and innovation drive development and prosperity.
