On March 6, 2025, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) welcomed a delegation from the UK Parliament on a courtesy visit.
In her welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, acknowledged the significant strides made by the Lagos State Government in combating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). She emphasized the importance of strengthening global partnerships and highlighted the engagement as a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore collaborative efforts in addressing domestic and sexual violence.
Mrs. Tumininu Oni, Head of Case Management, presented an overview of DSVA’s work and achievements. This was followed by an interactive session where Parliamentarians engaged in discussions on key issues. Becky Cooper inquired about the modalities and implementation of the Sexual Offenders Register, while Mr. Wale Adebajo, Head of Public Affairs at the UK office, reiterated the ongoing collaboration between the British High Commission and DSVA.
Kate Osamor, the delegation leader, commended DSVA’s efforts and pledged to share legislative instruments that guide the UK’s response to SGBV. The session concluded with commendations for DSVA’s impactful work in supporting survivors across Lagos.
The UK team—including Jacob Loose, Magdalene El Beleidi, Kate Osamor, David Mundell, Fred Thomas, Becky Cooper, Karen Bradley, and Jonny Oates—toured the DSVA facility and received souvenirs before departing.
