June 12:Amuwo Odofin Council Chairman Celebrates Democracy Day, says Nigeria is on the right track to greatness

 




In commemorating the  32 years of the fairest and freest election in the history of Nigeria, which is June 12, the Executive  Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government,Engr Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh has felicitated  with Nigerians  both  home and abroad on the significant milestone recorded thirty tow years ago,stressing that the country  is on the path of progress and development 




In his Democracy Day message to the people of Amuwo Odofin ,Lagos and Nigeria at large, the council boss , who also participated in the struggle for the revalidation of the June 12 election in the nineties  commended heroes of the struggle  for their efforts and support which eventually  berthed  this democratic governance in Nigeria


Engr Buraimoh  mentioned specifically the symbol of June 12, Bashorun MKO Abiola and his wife, Alhaja Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, Pa Alfred Rewane,Dr Beko  Ransome Kuti, Chief Ganiu  Oyesola Fawehinmi, Prof Wole Soyinka ,Alhaja  Suliat  Adedeji and several students murdered  in the struggle for return of democracy  in the country, stressing that their efforts are not in vain as one of them is in the saddle as the president and Commander in chief 9f the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..


The youthful council boss equally appealed to Nigerians to keep hope alive as the president, being a product of agitation will ensure progress and development  of the country: as he has passion  for greatness 



According to him "today reminds me of my students days, when we joined  our leaders to demand for return to democratic rule in Nigeria. The military dealt with us, but we thank God that with our perseverance  and resilience ,our prayers were answered and our beloved nation returned to democracy in 1999"



"Kudos must be given to several selfless leaders who gave all they had that we must democracy and some of them paid the Supreme sacrifice. Its on that note that we remember the symbol of June 12, Bashorun MKO Abiola and Alhaja Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, Chief Alfred Rewane ,Alao Aka Bashorun,Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Dr Beko Ransome Kuti and others too numerous to mention"

"Today we are at threshold  of history as one of the leaders who sacrificed for democracy  is the president and he has started well with several initiatives to galvanize  the country to greatness and we must support him to achieve his aim for the growth of the country"
