OLU ILARO RECEIVES CUSTOMS COMPTROLLER FOU ZONE A, M.S SHUAIBU

His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, yesterday, 25th June 2025, received the new Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A Ikeja, Comptroller M.S Shuaibu, on a courtesy visit.

Comptroller M.S Shuaibu, who had earlier visited the Paramount Ruler as the Customs Area Comptroller of Ogun 1 Area Command, returned to seek Kabiyesi’s continued support and royal blessings in his new role.

Oba Olugbenle congratulated the Comptroller on his appointment and appreciated his consistent engagement with the traditional institution. Comptroller M.S Shuaibu recently assumed duty as the 28th Customs Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, the Customs unit responsible for overseeing the South-West zone of Nigeria.

Kabiyesi commended the recent professionalism displayed by the Customs in their operations, an approach that has brought about calmness and improved relations in border communities. He further urged all the officers in the delegation to support the Comptroller in his new assignment by remaining diligent and patriotic in the discharge of their duties.

The Paramount Ruler expressed appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that they have significantly reduced the rate of smuggling in the border area, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira. He, however, appealed to the Federal Government to reopen the borders in the Yewa area, as has been done in some other border regions, citing the high poverty rate and unemployment in border communities. He urged the Federal Government to prioritise this issue, emphasising that no single policy can sufficiently address the complex realities at the borders.

Oba Olugbenle received the delegation in the company of Chief Adedeji Ogunleye, the Olori-Odo of Ilaro-Yewa, and Alhaji Babatunde, CEO of Himra Global Ltd. Kabiyesi offered his royal blessings to Comptroller M.S Shuaibu and his delegation, wishing them the very best as they continue in their service to the nation with integrity and excellence.
