At last! the people of Mushin Local Government can now sleep with their two eyes closed as men of the Nigeria Police and the Armed Forces have finally arrested hoodlums numbering 114 who have been terrorising residents and traders in the community, following the efforts made by the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye to secure the lives and properties of his people in the community
In an operation led by the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP - Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, with the Deputy Commission - Operations, DCP Fatai Tijani and Area Commander of Area D, ACP Bamidele Awoniyi, the team arrested 52 Young boys within the ages of 16 - 20 years, for their involvement in series of attacks, ranging from murder, robbery, rape and destruction of properties at different locations across Mushin Local Government.
The hoodlums were arrested at different locations in Mushin in an operation which started in the early hours of Sunday 6th July and ended late afternoon with the combined efforts of the State Task Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Tactical Team, Mobile Police Force. The raid was successfully carried out after weeks of intelligence gathering and professional surveillance around the area.
In another operation, carried out by officers of Nigeria Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) Oshodi, 62 hoodlums were also arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution in connection with the civil unrest in Mushin.
According to report, the arrested culprits whose ages range between 16 - 26, were among those who mobilise and support the boys in Mushin to carry out their attacks during the night.
The team which operated in conjunction with the OP MESA squad, effected the arrest around Oshodi, following intelligence report gathered in connection with the joint activities of the gangs who have been terrorising Mushin and it's metropolis for some weeks now.
The arrested hoodlums will be charged to court tomorrow and prosecuted for various criminal offences.
The operation also had the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye in attendance, with Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe (Vice chairman and chairmanship candidate of the APC) and Hon. Semiu Karaole (Supervisor for Education and Vice Chairmanship candidate of APC) in the July 12 local government election in Lagos State.
Investigation is going on and more arrest will be made as the Area Commander of Area D Police Command Mushin - ACP Awoniyi, has vowed to ensure that all those involved in the attacks and killing of innocent people, with robbery cases and rape over the last few months will face the full wrath of law.
The team later visited the parents of the ten year old boy who was killed by the hoodlums in attack which took place last week.
