The public hearing on the amendment of the 1999 constitution commenced on Friday with the creation of Ijebu State taking central stage with prominent sons and daughters of Ijebu gathered at the Watercrest Hotel, venue of the event.
As early as 8am, prominent Obas and Chiefs as well as politicians of Ijebu extraction stormed the venue calling for the creation of the state and ensure it scales through with several placards and colourful shirts.
The sponsor of the bill, Senator Gbenga Daniel was also in attendance as he was seen exchanging pleasantries with the low and mighty, while he equally engaged with other stakeholders.
The Zonal Public hearing which is at the behest of the Senate was attended by several Nigerians including members of the civil society organizations.
