The Media Office of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State and current Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, has issued a strong rebuttal to a series of publications alleging his suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released on Monday, the media office emphatically clarified that Senator Daniel “is and remains a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).”
The statement, titled “Rejoinder: Oguninsight and News Across online News platforms: Libellous Publications Against His Excellency, The Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel,” specifically condemned an article with the headline, “EXCLUSIV: Billions, Betrayal, and a By-Election- The Inside Story of Gbenga Daniel’s Suspension from Ogun APC.” This article, initially published on the online news platform Oguninsight, was subsequently reproduced in national newspapers, including Vanguard and PM News on August 24, 2025, under various headlines such as “Why APC Suspended Senator Gbenga Daniel.”
The media office characterised these publications as “offensive, malicious and libellous,” stating that they have the potential to “hurt or injure the hard earned reputation” of Senator Daniel. The statement highlighted his long-standing professional, business, and political career, noting that his reputation has been built over many years.
In a move to seek redress, the OGD Media Office has formally demanded a retraction of the “libellous publications.” They have given the news platforms a seven-day ultimatum to publish an open apology in all national newspapers that reproduced the article and to also remove/delete all related content from social and new media platforms.
Failure to comply with this demand, the statement warned, will result in “all necessary legal actions” to seek redress. The media office confirmed that “our lawyers have been adequately briefed to proceed on the next course of action” if the call for a retraction is not heeded. The statement reiterates the Senator’s position as a duly elected representative on the APC platform and a bona fide member of the party.
