Apapa Customs Pledges Continuous Support to Port Police, Reinforces Inter-Agency Collaboration

The Customs Area Controller, Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining a strong working relationship with the Port Authority Police Command, pledging continuous support to ensure operational success and improved security within the port environment.

Comptroller Oshoba gave the assurance on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, while receiving the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Port Authority Police Command, CP Toyin Abaniloja, and her management team during a courtesy visit to the Command.

According to him, the Nigeria Customs Service and the Police share a mutual responsibility for maintaining order and ensuring seamless operations at the nation’s busiest seaport.
“Apapa Port is one of the major sources of government revenue, and we recognise the vital role of the Police in maintaining law and order within this environment. My predecessor enjoyed a cordial relationship with your Command, and I intend to sustain and strengthen that bond.
When we build synergy at the leadership level, it reflects positively on our officers and motivates them to achieve common goals”, he stated.

In her remarks, CP Toyin Abaniloja explained that her visit was to familiarise herself with the Comptroller and his team, as well as to reaffirm the Police Command’s readiness to work closely with the Customs Service in safeguarding the port.

“It’s a privilege to be here. The Apapa Port is critical to national development, and its security must not be compromised. My team is always on high alert and ready to respond whenever our support is needed”, she assured.

The meeting ended with an exchange of pleasantries, symbolising mutual respect and a renewed commitment by both agencies to deepen cooperation for improved port operations and national security.
