The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has described the Bariga sports center as one of the legacies of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to youth engagement and empowerment.
Speaking at the newly unveiled Bariga Sports Center at the CMS Primary School, Bariga, a significant milestone event in commemoration of the 100 days in Office of the Chairman, Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Bukola Omope Adedeji, the Director General stated that the present administration led by Governor Sanwo-Olu has proposed the construction of 10 stadia across the state, and the centre is a testament to the ongoing drive to acces sports facilities at the grassroots level.
Fatodu emphasized the importance of community involvement in supporting the Governments’ efforts to develop sports infrastructure in the state, “The best thing we can do is to support the good work the Governor is doing to have community intervention of this nature”.
He added that the Lagos State Sports Commission will use the edifice as a model for sports development and infrastructure support in the state. “As the agency responsible for sporting events in Lagos State, we will use Bariga LCDA as a symbol of reference on what is possible in sports intervention and infrastructure support for the state”.
