.... Compensation is in fulfillment of government promise - TPL Oladimeji Animashaun
In furtherance of it's promise to compensate qualified owners of properties affected by the Oworonshoki regeneration exercise, the Lagos State government through the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) today Monday 3rd November 2025, began a second round enumeration of property owners with valid documents.
The enumeration exercise which took place at the Oloworo palace in Oworonshoki in Kosofe local government council area of Lagos State had in attendance LASURA staffs in charge of the enumeration led by the General Manager TPL Oladimeji Animashaun and his directors, chiefs, community leaders, CDA and CDC officials, civil society organizations leaders, security agencies, members of the press and a large number of residents who were not captured in the first round of the exercise, coming out to take advantage so as to be eligible for compensation.
In his opening remarks, GM of LASURA TPL Oladimeji Animashaun while appreciating the affected residents for turning out in large numbers today, having been convinced of the sincerity of the Lagos State government to the fulfillment of it's promise exemplified in payment of compensation to affected residents numbering about 79 in the first round, was full of gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for fulfilling his promise of compensation. According to TPL Animashaun, "Governor Sanwo-Olu must be commended and appreciated for the fulfillment of his promise to compensate residents"
It will be recalled the Lagos State government on the 23rd and 24th of October 2025, commenced payment of certified cheques to qualified residents affected by the Oworonshoki regeneration exercise at a well attended ceremony at the Oloworo palace presided over by the GM of LASURA TPL Oladimeji Animashaun and had in attendance, residents and the honourable member representing Kosofe State constituency I in the Lagos State house of assembly, honourable Ganiyu Babatunde Sanni among others.
TPL Oladimeji Animashaun also lauded the special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on E-GIS and urban development Dr. Olajide Babatunde, and the Permanent Secretary office of Urban Development in the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development Arc Gbolahan Oki for their steadfastness and tireless efforts in ensuring the fulfillment of the government promise to affected residents.
The affected residents were enjoined to collect the enumeration forms, fill it and submit with relevant documents which included LASSRA ID card, passport photographs, land receipt or Deed of conveyance and bank details for the enumeration exercise which will be verified by a committee comprising LASURA staffs, the Oloworo of Oworonshoki kingdom, CDA and CDC officials and representatives of the affected residents.
The GM of LASURA TPL Oladimeji Animashaun promised that presentation of cheques to deserving residents will follow soon after the completion of the enumeration and verification.
Some of the residents while speaking to our correspondent at the venue of the enumeration exercise today, were full of praises to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and those charged with overseeing the exercise, for their faithfulness and patience in the diligent execution of the exercise.
