LAGOS VIS CHARTS NEW COURSE TOWARD PROFESSIONALISM, CIVILITY IN PUBLIC SERVICE

The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has concluded a three-day leadership and capacity-building workshop for its senior officers and zonal heads to enhance professionalism, empathy, and public trust in service delivery.

The training, themed “Behind the VIO Badge: Transforming Perceptions, Building Trust,” was organised in collaboration with the Civility Institute of Nigeria and focused on equipping officers with modern leadership, emotional intelligence, and ethical communication skills.

Director of VIS in Lagos, Engr. Akin-George Fashola said the training marked a significant step in the Service’s reform agenda to rebuild confidence in the VIS brand and ensure that officers project civility and professionalism in their daily operations. “We want our officers to be ambassadors of safety, discipline, and integrity. This programme reinforces the values that define our identity behind the uniform,” he added.

According to him, the initiative was part of the agency’s reform efforts to reposition VIS as a people-centred institution. He noted that the Lagos State Government remains committed to building a disciplined, responsive, and service-driven workforce within its transport management sector.
