LASG STRENGTHENS TIES WITH SAUDI ARABIA AHEAD OF 6TH LAGOS REAL ESTATE MARKETPLACE CONFERENCE, EXHIBITIONS

 


The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare has reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration in the housing and real estate sector, particularly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s vision of a modern, inclusive, and sustainable megacity.


Barr. Odunuga-Bakare stated this during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.


The visit was was sequel to an earlier courtesy visit to the embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria to formally notify the Embassy of the forthcoming meeting of delegates from Saudi Arabia and to extend an official invitation to participate in the 6th Lagos State Real Estate MarketPlace Conference and Exhibitions, scheduled to hold on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th December, 2025, with the theme:


“Shaping the Future of Lagos Mega City: Infrastructure, Investment, Innovation and Affordable Housing.”



During the visit to the Ministers, Barr. Barakat Odunuga Bakare emphasised the economic benefits and mutual opportunities inherent in fostering stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Government and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially in areas of affordable housing delivery, infrastructure development, and technology-driven solutions for sustainable urban growth.


Speaking further, Barr. Odunuga-Bakare noted that the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, has consistently demonstrated its readiness to partner with credible local and international investors toward addressing the housing deficit in the State.


She said, “The Lagos State Real Estate MarketPlace Conference has become a credible platform for meaningful engagement between government, investors, developers, and professionals within the real estate value chain”.


“This visit is to build on that legacy to create a bridge between Lagos, and by extension Nigeria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in exploring new dimensions of real estate investment, infrastructure financing, and affordable housing models that will benefit both sides.”


Responding, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, commended the Lagos State Government for its forward-thinking initiatives in the real estate sector, describing the MarketPlace Conference as a flagship platform that aligns with the Federal Government’s housing agenda.


“The collaboration between Lagos and Saudi Arabia presents an opportunity to attract strategic foreign investment and technical partnerships that can accelerate housing delivery and infrastructure renewal across the country,” the Minister noted. Revealing that the Federal Government is set to commission 2000 units of renewed hope Housing units in Nigeria.


On his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia beyond traditional sectors.


“This engagement underscores Nigeria’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia. It also reflects how sub-national entities like Lagos can complement our national drive for sustainable development and international partnerships,” Ambassador Tuggar remarked.


The Special Adviser expressed appreciation to both Ministers for their support and collaboration, reiterating that the forthcoming Conference would showcase Lagos as a thriving investment destination for global partners in real estate, infrastructure, and innovation.


The 6th Lagos State Real Estate MarketPlace Conference and Exhibition, organised by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing, will convene policymakers, investors, real estate developers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to deliberate on innovative approaches to housing and infrastructure development for a resilient and prosperous Lagos Mega City.
