The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening disability inclusion by extending financial support to registered NGOs, Homes, Foundations and Cluster groups working within the disability community. The support exercise took place on the 21st November 2025 at the LASODA premises.
Representing the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts Department, Mr. Akinbule Adesola Hezekiah, warmly welcomed the beneficiaries to the fund-support programme. He noted that the initiative reflects the vision of Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who continues to prioritise the welfare of persons with disabilities and the sustainability of organisations serving them.
According to him, the gesture, though modest, is a demonstration of the government’s appreciation of the hard work, dedication and resilience of disability-focused groups across the State.
“On behalf of the Lagos State Government, we are giving this support to acknowledge your efforts. This is a yearly arrangement, and we encourage all stakeholders to continue partnering with LASODA for the advancement of the disability community,” he added.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal further encouraged persons with disabilities who are yet to register with the Agency to take advantage of its open-door policy, describing LASODA as “your home - feel free to access it.” She also appealed to organisations to consistently share updates, challenges and progress reports to enable LASODA to co-develop solutions that better serve children, adults and caregivers within the disability ecosystem.
Also speaking at the event, the Director of Social Development and Integration, Mr. Kelani Akeem, urged NGOs, Homes and Foundations to remain accountable and active in engaging the Agency. He disclosed that although over 100 groups are currently registered with LASODA, 25 organisations were selected for this phase of support based on set criteria and activity reports.
Expressing her appreciation on behalf of beneficiaries, the CEO of So-Said Charity Home for Vulnerable Persons, Mrs. Felicia Martins, commended the Lagos State Government and LASODA for continually supporting the disability community. She noted that “every disability is a possibility,” stressing the importance of maintaining hope and happiness regardless of challenges. She further assured individuals with disabilities that caregivers and support institutions remain committed to their well-being.
Other Homes and foundations which benefited were the Irede Foundation, Excellent Child Initiative, Tolajoke Foundation, SAFREL Speech and Language Development Centre, Igbehin Adun Special School, and Iyaniwura Foundation, among others.
