The National President of the Nigerian Correctional Service Officers’ Wives Association (NICOWA), Mrs. Victoria Sylvester Nwakuche led a high-powered delegation of NICOWA National Executives on a courtesy visit to her counterparts in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Officers’ Wives Association (CDOWA) and the Nigeria Immigration Service Officers’ Wives Association (IMMOWA).
The visit, which forms part of NICOWA’s strategic engagements with sister agencies, was aimed at strengthening inter-agency relationships, promoting collaboration on welfare matters, and enhancing the collective impact of officers’ wives associations across the nation’s security architecture.
Speaking during the visit, the NICOWA National President emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation and shared values among security families.
She stated:
“Our officers serve the nation side by side, and it is important that their families also stand together. NICOWA is committed to building bridges of friendship, sharing knowledge, and expanding support systems that uplift the wellbeing of our members for sustainable peace in the home front.”
Mrs. Nwakuche also invited both Presidents to NICOWA’s forthcoming National convention, a programme that brings together delegates from all state chapters, zonal commands, and national executives and serves as the association’s central platform for policy review, capacity building, welfare assessment, and strategic planning for the year.
The President also highlighted NICOWA’s ongoing projects, including skill acquisition programmes, educational interventions, humanitarian outreach, and welfare support for officers’ families and inmates. She expressed her willingness to collaborate in areas of empowerment, capacity building, and community development programmes.
In her response, the President of the Civil Defence Officers’ Wives Association, Haj. Aishatu Ahmed Audi welcomed the NICOWA delegation and commended the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward enhancing synergy among service families. She noted that the relationship between NICOWA and CDOWA dates back to a decade and expressed readiness to partner with NICOWA in programmes that promote the dignity of officers’ families and contribute to national stability.
Similarly, the President of the Immigration Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs. Nike Tayo Ayeni appreciated the gesture and underscored the importance of inter-agency bonding, noting that IMMOWA and NICOWA are sister associations with similar activities. She noted that the visit will open new avenues for joint programmes and shared best practices among the associations.
The courtesy visit also featured the introduction of NICOWA executives, exchange of goodwill messages, symbolic presentation of souvenirs, and discussions on future collaborative projects, including women empowerment, family support initiatives, and community outreach.
The NICOWA President expressed satisfaction with the warm reception received and reaffirmed her commitment to sustaining the existing partnerships for strengthened welfare of members and their families.
