The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reported a 17.5% increase in revenue collection, generating ₦77.88 billion between January and October 2025, compared to ₦64.26 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, disclosed this during his maiden press briefing on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, at the Command’s operational headquarters in Ibadan.
Comptroller Aliyu, who assumed office on September 3, 2025, described the revenue growth as a reflection of the officers’ dedication and professionalism, despite the country’s economic challenges.
“This figure represents a commendable level of commitment by our officers despite prevailing economic challenges. It also demonstrates the Command’s unwavering dedication to achieving and surpassing the monthly set target by the Service,” Comptroller Aliyu stated.
On anti-smuggling operations, the Area Controller revealed that between June and October 2025, the Command intercepted various prohibited items with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦818,789,310.25.
The seized items include 403 kegs (25 litres each) of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 1,054 used tyres, 3,671 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 166 bales and 19 sacks of used clothes, 79 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, unregistered pharmaceuticals, and four used vehicles, including a Toyota Hilux and a Mercedes-Benz GLE, among others.
He noted that suspects arrested in connection with the seizures have been charged in court in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening enforcement and collaboration, Comptroller Aliyu emphasised that effective Customs administration thrives on partnership with stakeholders.
“The Command remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication to ensure seamless trade facilitation and compliance with Customs regulations,” he said.
He also commended officers and men of the Command for their dedication and discipline in the discharge of their duties.
