As part of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's administration to promote sports inclusiveness, the Lagos State Sports Commission under the leadership of Director General, Lekan Fatodu has stated that Lagos State's commitment is in youth development and sports collaborations.
Speaking at the Swimming Fiesta at the Olympic sized Swimming Pool, Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Fatodu emphasized that Lagos State is proud of young athletes and appreciates the sacrifices of parents who support them by working to make swimming more inclusive and accessible to all, with initiatives like 'Swim for Change' in riverine areas.
"Lagos State has achieved unprecedented success in National Youth Games, winning gold medals, and aims to surpass other clubs and communities, he noted.
While reaffirming the State's Government to sports development, the Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende stated that sports is been piriortized alongside infrastructure development in the State.
"Youth engagement is crucial for Lagos growth and sports are vital. Swimming requires discipline, punctuality and dedication. Collaboration is emphasized as essential for success in Lagos State sports", he added.
He acknowledged the importance of collaboration between parents and the sports commission for continued success.
