Ooni Of Ife Commends Gbenga Daniel at 70, Hails His Enduring Legacy in Leadership and Public Service

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has congratulated former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, on his 70th birthday, praising him as an outstanding figure in leadership and public service.

In a statement from the Royal Court of Ife, the monarch described Daniel as a proud son of Oduduwa whose life exemplifies dedication, resilience, and purposeful governance. He applauded his consistent efforts toward development, human capacity building, and societal advancement.

The Ooni noted that the House of Oduduwa had long recognised Daniel’s potential, which led to his conferment as the Fesojaye of Ife in 1992—well before his emergence on the national political stage.

Reflecting on his time as governor, the monarch highlighted Daniel’s tenure as a period defined by progressive reforms, infrastructural growth, and people-focused policies that enhanced the lives of many citizens.

Beyond politics, Ogunwusi also acknowledged Daniel’s contributions as a businessman, philanthropist, and mentor, stressing his positive influence on younger generations and the wider society.

He added that at 70, Daniel remains a respected elder statesman whose experience and legacy continue to inspire across traditional, political, and social spheres.

On behalf of the global Oduduwa community, the Ooni offered prayers for his continued good health, strength, and many more years of impactful service.
