His Imperial Majesty, Ọba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, recently paid a royal courtesy visit to the revered elder statesman and father figure, High Chief Ifasegun Elegushi, the distinguished Opemoluwa of Ikate Kingdom, Lagos.
The historic visit was marked by warmth, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the preservation of Yoruba culture and heritage.
During the visit, the Ọọni of Ife expressed deep appreciation to Chief Elegushi for his unwavering dedication and immense contributions towards safeguarding and promoting the rich cultural traditions of our people.
His Majesty offered heartfelt prayers to Olódùmarè, asking for long life, sound health, greater wisdom, and continued strength for the Opemoluwa, as well as progress and divine guidance for Association of African Traditional Religion Worshippers of Nigeria and Overseas (AATREN).
In his response, High Chief Ifasegun Elegushi warmly thanked the Ọọni of Ife for deeming it fit to visit him despite his demanding royal responsibilities. He commended the monarch for his visionary leadership, especially his determination to create employment opportunities for the youth and his steadfast passion for preserving the language, customs, and traditions that define the Yoruba race.
Chief Elegushi further urged the Ọọni to continue encouraging other traditional rulers across the land to intensify efforts in protecting and promoting our indigenous language, culture, and ancestral values so that they do not fade into extinction.
He stressed that the responsibility of cultural preservation rests on all custodians of tradition.
The Opemoluwa also lamented the rising rate of social vices among the youths and passionately appealed to parents and guardians to return to the path of proper moral upbringing, discipline, and guidance for their children and wards.
He emphasized that rebuilding society begins at home, where sound values must first be instilled.
The meeting stood as a powerful symbol of unity, wisdom, and collective resolve among traditional leaders to secure a brighter future for coming generations while preserving the priceless heritage handed down by our forebears.
