TECH FOR RIGHTS: NHRC TRAINS STAFF TO DEPLOY EMERGING TOOLS AGAINST ABUSE

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has trained staff to use emerging technologies to track violations, manage evidence, and deliver faster justice to victims.

The 2-day training which was organized by the Commission’s Human Rights Institute, was designed to equip officers across departments with digital skills for data management, report writing, financial accountability, and rights-based research.

Executive Secretary of the Commission Dr. Tony Ojukwu, OFR, SAN while declaring the training open said technology must serve the people.

“This is not about gadgets. It’s about cutting delays, securing evidence, and making sure everyone gets justice without excuses,” he told participants.

He stressed that the training’s success will be measured by one thing: better protection for Nigerians whose rights are violated.

“Learn it, use it, share it. Every improvement in our process is a stronger shield for the vulnerable,” he added.

Staff were drawn from all departments, including the Office of the Executive Secretary, to ensure collaboration and uniform standards across the Commission.

They expressed appreciation to the management for the digital capacity building.

According to the investigation staff present at the training, the knowledge acquired will go a long way to assist them in efficient case files, tamper-proof data, and faster reports, meaning victims wait less and violators hide less.
