CP BODE OJAJUNI CONDUCTS FOLLOW-UP ASSESSMENT, ORDERS ADDITIONAL SECURITY DEPLOYMENT OVER IJEBU-ODE ENVIRONMENTAL INCIDENT





Further to the earlier press release on the environmental incident recorded along the Agoro/Okunowa Road axis of Ijebu-Ode, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, on Saturday, 16th May 2026, conducted a follow-up on-site assessment of affected communities and schools, including Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School and other impacted areas within Ijebu-Ode. The assessment was carried out alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Muritala Bolanle, the Officer in Charge of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, and other emergency response stakeholders.



The Commissioner of Police consequently ordered additional deployment of Police EOD personnel, Surveillance Teams, tactical operatives, and the School Protection Squad to strengthen security coverage around affected schools and communities. The visit was also carried out in collaboration with the Ogun State Commissioners for Education, Environment, and Health, during which residents, teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders were sensitized on precautionary safety measures and emergency response procedures. CP Bode Ojajuni also addressed participants during the sensitization session, where he emphasized the importance of calmness, vigilance, and strict adherence to established emergency protocols.


Members of the public are advised to contact the Ogun State Government Emergency Call Centre on 08112000033 in the event of any emergency related to the incident. Residents are further advised to immediately ask for help, assist affected persons to breathe using wet clothes where necessary, and promptly convey victims to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention. The Ogun State Police Command reassures residents that the situation remains under control while monitoring, surveillance, and coordinated response operations continue.
