Fubara Reaffirms ‘Rivers First’ Commitment as Administration Marks Three Years in Office

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reaffirmed his commitment to the “Rivers First” mantra, describing it as the guiding philosophy behind the policies and programmes of his administration over the past three years.

In a goodwill message marking the third anniversary of his administration, the governor said prioritising the interests and wellbeing of Rivers people has remained the central focus of his government since assuming office.

Fubara noted that his administration’s significant investments in road infrastructure were aimed at connecting rural communities with urban centres, expanding economic opportunities, and driving development across the state.

According to him, the vision of transforming Rivers State into a major investment destination informed the execution of key projects, including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, Trans-Kalabari Highway, Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road, and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road.

The governor also highlighted efforts to strengthen the education and healthcare sectors, while maintaining peace and security as critical priorities of his administration.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Rivers State for the confidence reposed in him, Fubara pledged to continue ensuring that public resources are deployed for the benefit of citizens.

He attributed the achievements recorded by his administration to the cooperation, resilience, resourcefulness, and entrepreneurial spirit of Rivers people.

“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible,” the governor stated.

“As we mark this anniversary, I renew my commitment to you: to lead with transparency, listen more than I speak, and ensure that every project, every policy, and every naira spent reflects your interest.”

While acknowledging that challenges remain, Fubara called on all segments of society—including elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, farmers, artisans, and professionals—to continue contributing to the development of the state.

The governor also congratulated Rivers residents and Nigerians on the nation’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, describing the milestone as the longest period of civil rule since independence.

According to him, the endurance of democracy demonstrates that Nigeria’s diverse ethnic nationalities can coexist, manage disagreements, and continue to work together for national progress.
