House on the Rock Church, founded by Paul Adefarasin, hosted the Liberty Games 2026 at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos. The initiative forms part of the church’s ongoing commitment to inmate welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration into society.
The sporting event brought together inmates from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ikoyi Medium Security Custodial Centre, and the Female Custodial Facility. The games fostered unity, recreation, and healthy competition among participants.
The event was attended by the Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, Daramola George, alongside Officers in Charge of custodial centres across the State. In addition to the sporting activities, free medical check-ups were conducted, with medications provided to inmates.
Featured activities included table tennis, athletics, sack races, and football. The football final was keenly contested, with the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, emerging champions after defeating the Ikoyi Medium Security Custodial Centre.
Speaking at the event, the Officer in Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Daniel Ogu, expressed appreciation to House on the Rock Church for its sustained support toward inmate rehabilitation and welfare through impactful initiatives such as the Liberty Games.
The Liberty Games further underscored the importance of sports in promoting physical wellness, discipline, teamwork, and positive engagement within custodial facilities.
