NIGERIA POLICE AND UNITED NATIONS TEAM UP TO LAUNCH SPECIALIZED COUNTER-TERRORISM INVESTIGATION MASTERS PROGRAM.

The Department of Training and Development at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters and the  Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) have kicked off a four-day technical workshop session in Abuja with representatives of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), to launch a new specialized executive Masters Program in Counter-Terrorism Investigation.

The high-level initiative was declared opened by POLAC Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero MSc, MBA, psc, on behalf of the DIG DTD, DIG ISIYAKU MUHAMMAD fcna, PhD.

The busy four-day workshop focuses on deliberations on curriculum design and development for the course and an accreditation meeting with the National Universities Commission (NUC).
This partnership bridges the gap between university research and modern battlefield reality by tailoring global security expertise to Nigeria's unique challenges. Beyond establishing the executive degree, the UN will sponsor international "Training of Trainers" programs to build POLAC faculty capacity while upgrading the cadet curriculum with advanced modules on IED forensics and digital intelligence.

AIG Atayero and AIG DTD AIG Ifeanyi Henry Uche PhD, who was also in attendance with staff of the department and the polac, emphasized that this internationally benchmarked training will give officers the modern investigative tools they need to effectively prevent and prosecute terror threats.

With this milestone collaboration, POLAC becomes the very first Police Academy in the region to host a UNOCT-backed specialized postgraduate program, marking a massive win for national security.
