NSE-MAIDUGURI 2026 SEALED AS GOV. ZULUM RECEIVES OFFICIAL HOSTING RIGHTS

 


Maiduguri has officially secured the hosting rights for the 2026 Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) International Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting following the formal presentation of the hosting rights to the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the Government House, Maiduguri.


The hosting rights were formally presented by the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, FEANG, MFR, who led a high-powered delegation of the Society on a courtesy visit to the Governor.


Members of the delegation included Engr. M.B. Shettima, FNSE, Chairman of the NSE Maiduguri Branch and Host Branch Chairman; Engr. Kamila Maliki, FNSE, mni, Chairman of the NSE College of Fellows; Engr. Mohammed Kabir Wanori, FNSE, FNIIE, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Maiduguri 2026; Engr. Dayabu Tijani, FNSE, Member of the NSE Executive Committee; Engr. Kamsaleem Bukar, FNSE, former President of the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN); Engr. Mohammed Umaru Watsada, FNSE; and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.



The presentation marks a historic milestone for Borno State and a strong vote of confidence in the remarkable transformation of Maiduguri under the leadership of Governor Zulum. It further underscores the growing national recognition of the city's improved security, infrastructure, hospitality, and capacity to host major national and international events.


Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, FEANG, MFR, expressed the confidence of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in Maiduguri's preparedness to host Nigeria's largest gathering of engineering professionals. He commended the developmental strides recorded in Borno State and noted that the conference would provide a unique platform for advancing engineering innovation, professional collaboration, and national development.


The 2026 NSE International Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting will hold from Monday, 30th November to Friday, 4th December 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Maiduguri, under the theme:

"Engineering Innovation for Enhanced Security and Sustainable National Development."


The choice of Maiduguri as the host city is particularly significant given the conference theme, which resonates strongly with Borno State's ongoing reconstruction and development efforts. Through engineering, technology, and innovation, the state continues to rebuild critical infrastructure, strengthen resilience, and improve the quality of life of its citizens.


The conference is expected to attract over ten thousand  Nigerian and diaspora engineers, researchers, innovators, policymakers, development partners, academics, captains of industry, and technology experts from across Nigeria and beyond, making it the largest gathering of engineering professionals in the country.
