LAGOS DSVA INDUCTS 300 STUDENTS FROM EDUCATION DISTRICT III INTO THE KINGS' AND QUEENS' CLUB

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), on Thursday, 16th July 2026, inducted 300 students, comprising 150 boys and 150 girls from secondary schools across Education District III, into the Kings' Club and Queens' Club at Dolphin Senior High School, Lagos Island.

The induction marked the successful completion of a six-week training programme designed to equip students with the knowledge, leadership skills, and confidence to serve as peer advocates for the prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) within their schools and communities.

In her welcome address, the Head of Programmes, Miss Zainab Alaka, congratulated the inductees and encouraged them to uphold the values of integrity, respect, responsibility, and leadership as ambassadors of the clubs.

Student representatives shared inspiring testimonies on how the programme had strengthened their confidence, leadership abilities, and understanding of child protection, healthy relationships, and violence prevention. Delivering the goodwill message, Mrs. Temitayo Olaoye, District Counsellor, Education District III, commended Lagos DSVA for empowering young people through preventive education and urged the students to remain exemplary ambassadors.
The event featured creative presentations, including drama, spoken word, and poetry, through which participants reinforced key messages on respect, gender equality, child protection, and the prevention of SGBV.

A major highlight was the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Mr. Olaonipekun Kazeem and Mrs. Aderonke Oyelakin, during which the newly inducted members committed to upholding the values of the clubs, promoting respect, reporting abuse, and serving as positive role models.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Damilare Adewusi, who appreciated all stakeholders for their support and encouraged the students to utilise the Lagos State Government-approved toll-free line, 08000 333 333, to report cases of domestic and sexual violence.

The induction officially welcomed 300 new Kings' Club and Queens' Club ambassadors committed to promoting safe, respectful, and violence-free school communities across Lagos State.
