The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, FISN, has reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening community safety and security across Lagos State.
Prince Oyekan made this known while receiving the leadership of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Lagos State Command, led by the State Commandant, Patriot Amb. Badmus Akeem Abayomi, during a courtesy visit to the Agency's headquarters.
Speaking during the visit, Commandant Abayomi commended the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) for its outstanding contributions to community policing and crime prevention in the state. He noted that the visit was to seek collaboration with the Agency and explore ways the Peace Corps could be integrated into the proposed Lagos State Police structure whenever it becomes operational.
In his response, Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan appreciated the delegation for the visit and their interest in partnering with the Agency. He commended the Peace Corps of Nigeria for its commitment to youth development, peacebuilding and nation-building, stressing that security is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration among all stakeholders.
The General Manager highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, describing its officers as disciplined, dedicated and community-focused personnel who have continued to complement the efforts of other security agencies in maintaining peace and security across the state.
Prince Oyekan explained that the establishment and operational framework of the proposed Lagos State Police would be determined by the appropriate legal and policy provisions when the time comes. He, however, assured the delegation that LNSA remains open to meaningful partnerships that support intelligence gathering, community engagement and crime prevention.
He urged the Peace Corps of Nigeria to continue contributing positively to society through community service, civic responsibility and youth empowerment, while encouraging both organisations to sustain cordial relations in the collective pursuit of a safer Lagos.
