NEMA Responds to Multi-Vehicle Road Traffic Crash Along University of Abuja Road

 


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has responded to a multi-vehicle road traffic crash that occurred along the University of Abuja Gate, Giri, on Monday, 20th July, 2026


The emergency response was carried out by NEMA's Emergency Response Bay located on Bill Clinton Drive, Abuja, following a distress alert received by the Agency. The response team was immediately deployed by the Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office, Pharm. Zakari Abubakar.


On arrival at the scene, the NEMA team collaborated with other first responders to conduct rescue operations, provide emergency medical assistance, and coordinate the evacuation of victims.


The operation was jointly carried out with the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and community volunteers, who worked together to ensure effective rescue, evacuation, traffic management, and recovery efforts.


As of the time of this report, one fatality has been confirmed, while several injured victims received immediate first aid at the scene before being evacuated to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, for further medical attention.
