Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has charged the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) to remain steadfast in advancing professionalism and excellence in human resource management across the country.
The Governor gave the charge at the CIPM CEO/CHRO/HRD Forum held on Thursday, 16th July, at the Africa-America and Asia Room, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, the Governor commended CIPM for its pivotal role as the statutory body regulating human resource practice in Nigeria.
He noted that the Institute’s global recognition through strategic partnerships with professional bodies in the United Kingdom and Canada underscores the competence and global relevance of Nigerian HR professionals.
Speaking on the Forum’s theme, “Refocusing Diversity and Inclusion in the Organisation: The CEO and HR’s Perspectives,” the Governor described it as timely and significant.
He stressed that organisations must move beyond policy statements to measurable actions that promote equitable recruitment, career advancement and inclusive decision-making.
According to him, Lagos State exemplifies the benefits of diversity and inclusion, with people from diverse backgrounds contributing meaningfully to the State’s growth and development.
He added that the State Government has continued to implement policies and programmes that promote equal opportunities, protect the rights of persons with disabilities and expand access to employment and enterprise across gender and age groups.
