The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has honoured its teaching and non-teaching staff with Long Service Awards in recognition of their years of dedication, commitment and invaluable contributions to the development of basic education in Lagos State.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate employees whose years of service have contributed significantly to the growth and effective administration of the State’s basic education sector.
The ceremony, which took place recently at the LASUBEB Multi-Purpose Hall, brought together members of the Board, management, teaching and non-teaching staff, award recipients and other stakeholders to celebrate employees who have demonstrated loyalty, professionalism, resilience and sustained commitment throughout their years of service.
The event also highlighted the importance of recognising and appreciating the workforce as a critical driver of institutional growth and educational development.
Delivering the keynote address, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, commended the awardees for their dedication and sacrifices over the years, noting that their contributions had played an important role in strengthening the Board and advancing the delivery of quality basic education across Lagos State.
He urged them to prioritise their wellbeing as they progressed into the next phase of their lives by living healthy lifestyles and paying attention to their physical and mental wellbeing. He also charged them to be prudent in managing their finances through responsible financial planning and disciplined spending.
The Executive Chairman further encouraged the awardees to embrace a free and peaceful mind, urging them to let go of bitterness, forgive where necessary and approach the next chapter of their lives with optimism, gratitude and a positive outlook. He stressed that after years of dedicated service, the awardees deserved to enjoy the fruits of their labour in good health and peace of mind.
In a goodwill message, the Board Member in Charge of Teachers’ Establishment, Honourable Babatunde Williams, commended the awardees for their resilience, professionalism and commitment to duty. He noted that the contributions of both teaching and non-teaching personnel remain critical to the effective functioning of the education system, particularly in ensuring that schools and administrative structures operate efficiently. He urged the awardees to remain worthy ambassadors of the board and continue to uphold the values of excellence and service.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, who was also among the recipients of the Long Service Award, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Board for the recognition. Lamidi described the award as a significant honour and a reflection of the value placed on dedication, loyalty, and years of committed service. He commended the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for recognising the contributions of teaching and non-teaching staff to the growth and development of basic education in the state.
The ceremony featured the presentation of Long Service Awards to deserving members of the teaching and non-teaching workforce who had attained various milestones in service.
