In a bid to deepen the Fellows’ understanding of public leadership and governance, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosted the 2025/2026 Cohort of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) for their final mentorship session at Lagos House, Marina.
The session provided the Fellows with an opportunity to engage directly with the Governor and gain first-hand insights into the realities of leadership, decision-making, and public service.
Addressing the Fellows, Mr. Governor urged them to embrace continuous learning, remain patient with the leadership process, and recognise that effective leadership is ultimately measured by the solutions it delivers and the impact it creates.
The Governor further encouraged the Fellows to sustain the relationships built during their time at the Academy and contribute to a strong LJLA Alumni community. He noted that the experience, knowledge, and networks gained through the Fellowship should serve as a foundation for continued collaboration and service beyond the Academy.
In her welcome address, the LJLA Executive Secretary, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade expressed appreciation to Mr. Governor for his continued support for youth development and leadership initiatives in Lagos State. She noted that the mentorship session offered the Fellows an important opportunity to draw from his experience and gain deeper insight into the responsibilities of public leadership.
The engagement also featured presentations by the Fellows, who shared policy recommendations addressing key issues affecting Lagos State and proposed practical approaches through which emerging leaders can contribute to the State’s development.
The session was attended by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Fellow and President of the 2025/2026 Cohort, Abdulazeez Olumide Abdulazeez, expressed appreciation to Mr. Governor and other officials for providing the Fellows with the opportunity to engage directly with leaders shaping governance and public service in Lagos State.
