The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education warmly welcomes all pupils, students, teachers, school administrators, non-teaching staff and other stakeholders back to school as the 2026/2027 academic session commences on Monday, 14 September 2026.
The commencement of the new academic session marks another opportunity to strengthen learning, discipline, character development, innovation and excellence across our schools.
The State Government congratulates parents, learners and education personnel for their commitment and encourages everyone to approach the new session with renewed enthusiasm and a strong determination to achieve academic and personal success. As public and private schools reopen across Lagos State, all school communities are reminded that the safety, health and well-being of every learner and staff member must remain a collective responsibility.
SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS IN OUR SCHOOLS
All pupils and students are encouraged to:Keep classrooms, toilets, laboratories, playgrounds and other school facilities clean at all times. Wash hands regularly with soap and safe water, particularly before eating and after using the toilet.Avoid littering and dispose of waste properly in designated bins. Avoid sharing personal items such as drinking cups, cutlery, towels and other items that may facilitate the spread of infections. Maintain good respiratory hygiene by covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Avoid unnecessary overcrowding and maintain good ventilation in classrooms and other enclosed spaces.
Report unsafe conditions, damaged facilities or health concerns promptly to teachers or school authorities. Teachers, administrators and non-teaching staff are expected to lead by example by maintaining high standards of personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness and safety throughout the school premises. Schools are also encouraged to ensure th hiat water, sanitation and hygiene facilities are functional and that classrooms, and frequently touched surfaces are cleaned regularly.
As we begin the 2026/202 academic session, let us work together to create schools that are safe, clean, healthy, inclusive and conducive to learning.
