The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property with its rapid and effective response to two separate incidents recorded across Lagos on Tuesday..
A major emergency response was activated following a fire outbreak at No. 14, Oke-Arin Street, Mushin. The Agency's Alpha Eagle Team deployed from Cappa Base received the distress alert at 01:26 pm and arrived at the scene within the estimated response time. On arrival, the team encountered a room on the top floor of a storey building engulfed in fire.
Through a highly coordinated and professional operation involving the Eagle Response Team, the LASEMA Response Unit Fire Team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the inferno was successfully contained, completely extinguished and dampened down to prevent escalation to nearby structures.
Preliminary assessment could not immediately establish the cause of the fire. Gratifyingly, no casualty or loss of life was recorded, underscoring the efficiency of the State Government's emergency management framework.
In a related development earlier in the day, the Tiger Team deployed from the Command and Control Centre, C3, en route to 7UP Bus Stop, responded to a vehicular breakdown that threatened to impede traffic flow. The incident involved a Hyundai minibus with registration number SMK-387 XA, which suffered battery failure opposite the Federal Road Safety Corps Office at 7UP.
The Agency's LRT responded with dispatch, recovered the vehicle with its heavy-duty tow truck and relocated it to the State House for safekeeping, thereby ensuring the free flow of traffic and public safety along that corridor.
These timely interventions once again reflect the proactiveness and operational readiness of the Lagos State Government under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to safeguard residents and ensure public order. LASEMA remains fully mobilised and on high alert to respond to all emergencies across the State.
The Agency appeals to Lagosians to continue to support government efforts by adhering to safety guidelines and promptly reporting emergencies via the Toll-Free lines 767 and 112.
