In her goodwill message to mark the day, the Convener of the Initiative, Princess Aderemi Fagbemi, described the girl child as a special gift to humanity who deserves to be nurtured in an atmosphere of love, peace and security.

According to Princess Fagbemi, no nation can achieve true greatness while its girls live in fear and insecurity. She noted that many girls today face violence at home, harassment in schools, bullying online, and are forced to grow up in conflict-prone environments that stifle their dreams.

"A girl needs peace to grow. She needs a peaceful home free from violence, a peaceful school free from molestation, and a peaceful community free from fear and discrimination. Only in a peaceful atmosphere can she discover her power and fulfill her purpose," she stated.

create safe spaces for girls to learn, speak and lead, and
end all forms of violence, intimidation and discrimination against the girl child

Furthermore, she posited the need for Promoting mentorship and leadership opportunities for young girls,as well as to Invest in quality education, health and empowerment of girls.

She reaffirmed the commitment of Girl Power Global Initiative to continue its advocacy, school outreaches, and empowerment programs aimed at raising bold, confident and visionary girls who will become global leaders.
