.Over25 compactors deployed as intervention continues through the week
The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has mobilised over 25 compactor trucks and sanitation personnel for a major waste evacuation intervention across several streets in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, as part of efforts to address accumulated waste and improve environmental sanitation.
The exercise, coordinated by LAWMA management staff, has received support from the Supervisor for Health, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, while advocacy activities are being conducted alongside the evacuation to promote responsible waste disposal and strengthen community participation.
The intervention, which will continue throughout the week, is aimed at clearing accumulated waste, improving environmental conditions and reinforcing collection arrangements across the affected areas.
LAWMA urged residents to cooperate with their registered Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators by presenting waste appropriately and adhering to agreed collection arrangements to ensure sustainable service delivery beyond the current intervention.
The Authority stressed that mass evacuation exercises must be complemented by regular collection, responsible disposal practices and effective monitoring to prevent the recurrence of waste build-up.
LAWMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operational interventions, community engagement and collaboration with local government authorities towards achieving a cleaner and healthier Lagos.
