Family members of one chieftain of the opposition party,the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State have declared ,Mr Ebi Emmanuel Ojo missing after a brutal encounter with members of the dreaded Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over his refusal to accede to their request to quit party politics
The group noted for its agitation for a sovereign state of Biafra from the current Nigeria nation,has been vehemently attacking anyone who opposes their agitation
The Ebi family disclosed that their brother,son and uncle was a prominent member of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP),who was always educating members of the IPOB on the need to drop their agitation and join a political party to seek political offices to correct the perceived injustice being agitated against
Ebi Emmanuel Ojo who was born fifty years ago in Amaekpu Ohafia in Abia State of Nigeria became a target of the IPOB Members for his political conviction which he expressed by joining a political party
It was posited that Mr Ebi in 2020 was elected as ward coordinator of his Party in Amaekpu Ohafia in Abia State ,a situation,which IPOB members warned against
The family in a save our soul message by his sister , Miss Ebi Ifeoma stated that her brother due to his organizational skills and diligence in the discharge of his role as PDP coordinator in his ward ,incurred the wrath of the IPOB leadership in his town,who sternly warned him to desist from campaigning for the PDP,a stand he vehemently rejected ,by encouraging young people to support the democratic process as represented by the PDP and other parties by participating in elections
Unfortunately,his brazen affront made him a target of attack as he received several phone calls threatening him from elements who claimed to be IPOB Members
Miss Ebi disclosed further that from June 2020, his amiable and peaceful brother became a fearful man, as IPOB members continue to call and threaten him uncontrollably,but that on 22nd October 2020, at exactly 9pm they stormed his residence in Amaekpu Ohafia,dressed in black attire all over ,while clutching the Biafra flag they dragged him out and gave him severe beating, which gave him internal bleeding as a sign to proof their determination to deal with anyone who is against them ,warning that if he fails to denounce his party ,they will come back to kill him ,a statement that made him to run for his dear life
She maintained that in the course of the attacks ,her brother's car and office got burnt with several documents including party insignia
The victim according to the sister , due to the severity of the attack and threat, he was then moved to an unnamed hospital in Umuahia ,where he was treated and his identity hidden so as not to attract the attention of his attackers
He was in the hospital for over a month according to his sister and after his discharge from the hospital in November 2020, information has it that the agitators were still searching for him which necessitated his fleeing the state as the security of his town and the entire eastern region of Nigeria deteriorated to the extent that the state security apparatus looked away while the IPOB Members perpetrate their heinous crimes
She however averred that since her brother was discharged from the hospital in November 2020, his whereabouts has remained a mystery and all efforts to locate him proved abortive,which has made life unbearable for the entire family as he remains the breadwinner of the entire family and source of inspiration to the younger elements
In her words "I just want to appeal to governments at all levels especially in Abia State to help me look for my brother ,as he has remained incommunicado since November 2020 owing to the threat of the Members of IPOB. My brother is peace loving and friendly,who will never hurt anyone. His declaration of being wanted by the members of the IPOB has had negative effects on his siblings who look up to him for support and upkeep"
