Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, has been nominated by the National Population Commission to serve as a member of the 2023 Population and Housing Census National Publicity and Advocacy Committee.
Advocacy, Publicity, and Public Enlightenment have been identified as critical elements which are imperative to the realization of the census objectives. The committee, which was inaugurated on February 10 by the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, has the mandate of targeted advocacy and sustained publicity.
The 2023 Census is poised to deliver accurate and reliable demographic data for planning purposes and to leave an enduring legacy of evidence-based planning for sustainable development and data-driven critical intervention programs by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Members of the committee include, the Chairman, of the National Population Commission; the Director General, of the National Orientation Agency (NOA); the Director General, of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA); the Director General, of Federal Radio Corporation (FRCN); the Director General, of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and the Director General, Voice of Nigeria (VON).
Others include the President, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); the Director-General, of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC); the President of, the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE); the President, of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); the Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation; Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC); the President General of, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA); President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); and the President, of the National Council of Women Society (NCWS); amongst others.
