LASCOPA IS SAFEGUARDING CONSUMER RIGHTS - OLOWU

 



The Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Engr. Abiola Olowu has asserted that the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA is safeguarding consumers in Lagos State as he commended the Agency saying it is doing well.

 

The Special Adviser gave the commendation when he led the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Oluremi Ososanya, FCA and staff of the Ministry on an inspection visit to LASCOPA's office at Ikeja recently to encourage the Team on the great work it is doing.

 

His words: "LASCOPA is successfully checkmating activities of unscrupulous businesses engaging in sale of substandard and expired products, including services. Some people would always want to cut corners but the Agency is showing great resolve at nipping such in the bud."

 

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Oluremi Ososanya, FCA stated that she is proud of LASCOPA under the leadership of the General Manager for rising at critical times in defense of the people. "The Agency is a good example of the mantra, Lagos is working," she said.

 

The General Manager, LASCOPA, Mr Afolabi Solebo asserted that the Agency was created to make sure consumers get value for money and satisfaction for products and services, while it frowns strongly at fake products, which can lead to health complications and even death.

 

"To make Lagos State a 21st Century Economy according to the T.H.E.M.E.S Development Agenda of Mr Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's administration, the people must be in good health. The Agency has helped recover and restituted over N290 million worth of goods and services for Lagosians," he said.

 

Expressing appreciation for the visit, which according to him, is the first by senior officials of the Ministry, Solebo reiterated that the Agency wants to do more and the visit will give it the needed impetus to achieve its goal.
