The Lagos state Emergency management Agency,LASEMA has given situation report on the damaged NNPCL pipeline in Ijedodo ,Ikotun Area of Lagos state.
LASEMA in a situation report issued and signed by it Permanent Secretary,Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintola disclosed that On arrival at the incident scene, the Agency's response team found some visible quantities of leaked petroleum product (petrol) on the land surface.
He posited that Investigation conducted by the Agency's response team revealed the immediate cause of the leaked petroleum product was due to damaged pipelines.
LASEMA having discovered the cause of the leakage conducted critical risk assessment with regards to safety and precautionary measures
It was also disclosed that the agency embarked on public advocacy and sensitization to the community with a view at eliminating any contact with the leaked petroleum product,while the immediate and remote areas covering the incident scene was condoned off..
It was further revealed that the maintenance department of the NNPC had been duly informed about the incident. Hence, valves connecting to the incident scene had been shut off.
The permanent Secretary maintained that the Agency's response team well as the Lagos Fire service, NSCDC Anti-Vandal Units, and the Nigeria Police (Isheri Osun Division) are on ground to avert any unsafe act(s) and unsafe actions ,while assessment and re-assessment ongoing with a view at identifying any potential threats
Finally,he stressed that the entire community is safe with no palpable tension recorded,while operational activities are on going.
